your first scan

When you arrive, our team will guide you through a quick overview of how the 3D body scan works. We’ll answer any questions and make sure you feel completely comfortable before starting. The process is private, simple, and only takes a few minutes.

You’ll change into form-fitting clothing and remove any shiny garments or jewelry to help the scanner capture accurate details. Then, you’ll step onto the ShapeScale platform and stand relaxed while the scanning arm rotates around you—no contact, no discomfort.

In less than a minute, ShapeScale creates a full 3D model of your body using safe infrared depth sensors. This model shows detailed information about your muscle, fat, posture, and overall composition, giving you a deeper picture than any scale or mirror could.

Right after your scan, you’ll see your results visualized in an easy-to-understand format. What does Shapescale actually measure?

ShapeScale goes far beyond weight. It measures:

  • Body fat percentage and lean mass

  • Muscle volume and distribution

  • Visceral fat (internal fat around your organs)

  • Body circumferences like waist, hips, thighs, and arms

  • Posture and symmetry changes

These metrics help visualize progress over time, revealing improvements that a regular scale can’t detect.

What should I wear for the scan?

For the most accurate scan, wear form-fitting, non-reflective clothing. Avoid loose shirts, bulky shorts, or flowy tops.

  • For women: A sports bra and fitted shorts or leggings work best.

  • For men: Compression shorts or fitted athletic shorts are ideal. A snug shirt or bare torso works fine.

Avoid shiny, glossy, or reflective garments- this includes jewelry, watches, and accessories. They can interfere with the 3D sensors.
Long hair must be tied up to avoid obstructing the neck and shoulders.

How do I take a scan?

For your first scan, our staff will setup your Shapescale profile so the device can idenify you.

The process is easy:

  1. Step onto the platform, one foot on either side of the white line, and stand still in a relaxed, neutral position. Avoid bending knees or moving. 

  2. The ShapeScale arm gently rotates around you for 1 minute, using advanced 3D depth sensors to capture your body from every angle. 

  3. The Shapescale will say “Shapescale Complete”, and you can step off the scale- your results will take 5-10 minutes to process. 

If you encounter an error during the scan, you may put on a robe and request assistance from our staff. They will reset the device and double check for common errors. 

Once you’ve beeen scanned, you need simply to stand on the scale and the device will recognize you automatically! 

How does it estimate my composition?

ShapeScale uses infrared depth sensors and 3D imaging to map thousands of data points across your body.
From that data, it builds a precise digital model and calculates tissue composition based on scientifically validated algorithms (similar in accuracy to DEXA and BIA scans).

This provides a safe snapshot of your body’s structure.

How often should I get scanned?

It’s reccomended to scan once every two weeks at a minimum to track trends in body composition over time. You could scan once a month as well. 

Do I need a special diet?

No strict diet is required, but small choices can make your results clearer and more consistent:

  • Avoid alcoho, caffiene, sugary drinks 24–48 hours before scanning—they can cause temporary bloating or dehydration, affecting your readings.

  • Stay hydrated, and eat your usual balanced meals before scanning.

  • For consistent tracking, try to scan around the same time of day and in similar clothing conditions each session.

Your ShapeScale scans become most powerful when paired with sustainable habits—good hydration, balanced nutrition, regular recovery, and consistent movement.

Does it involve exercise?

While not required, research suggests exercise after infrared light therapy can nearly double fat loss results (Witten, 2018). It is highly reccomended to follow your own exercise plan, attend our yoga or mobility training sessions, or “vibe out” for 10 minutes on our vibration plate after the session. Any of these steps helps your lymphatic system break up more of the fat deposits so they eliminate fully, along with increasing your circulation which is vital for healthy weight loss.
